Here’s an update on our Breast Cancer Screening program - I am excited to share this news with you.
1.) Equipment and Patient Enhancements. In early November, we ordered a small blanket warmer ($4,970 cost) and plush spa robes (two sets of spa robes, $1,200 total cost) to enhance care and comfort for our mammography suite and patients. The blanket warmer holds a set of spa robes and keeps them at a constant temperature. The blanket warmer has been received, calibrated, installed and in use. Marjean Barnett, Teton Valley Health Care’s Medical Imaging Director, recently relayed the following that I wanted to share with you, “I wanted to pass on to you how much our patients are enjoying and are appreciative of having the warm robes. Our patients have been so pleased and impressed with this extra touch.” We are happy that the blanket warmer has been well received by staff and patients and we’ll continue to look for opportunities to further enhancements for care.
2.) Breast Cancer Screening and Diagnostics for the medically-underserved. Since October, we have provided over $11,300 of mammograms, diagnostics and follow up clinical care for those in financial need. This is really incredible. To put it in perspective, in our last fiscal year, we provided $4,600 of mammography support, so the amount of charitable care we are providing the community has increased greatly. We attribute this to increasing our program outreach (through our Brake for Breakfast event, Annual Report, website, the Stripping for the Cure and Tee It up for the Tetons events, and simply by word-of-mouth) and feel these efforts are truly gaining momentum as we are experiencing an uptick in the number of women utilizing the service. Also, in general, the hospital has increased marketing efforts touting the state-of-the-art equipment to let women know they don’t have to leave the valley to receive a quality digital mammogram.
3.) Education and Prevention Please review Teton Valley Health Care’s website. The hospital has really done a fabulous job in posting educational materials, podcasts, breast health basics video series featuring Dr. Linhardt, and patient testimonial videos from those that have benefited from our mammogram program. Please copy and paste this link into your browser to see more, http://www.tvhcare.org/breast-health-information/. Again, the hospital has provided amazing support and talent to help us with program outreach.
Finally, attached please find our breast cancer screening form. Should you know of anyone in our community that would benefit, please feel free to forward this on. People may bring this completed form into admissions or call our Financial Counselor, Kristina Bellville at 354-6331 and she will set them up with an appointment. The forms and process has been intentionally designed to be as easy as possible for those needing services.
